Evolution

Interested in investigating the space between nature and culture, Schafer draws upon her professional experience in scientific illustration to create biologically plausible centaurs and ape-like warrioresses — conflating mythology and the natural sciences to create a perverse and compelling fantasy space. Schafer received a MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from The Corcoran College of Art & Design. Her work has been exhibited at artpoint Miami, Lump Gallery, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Space 1026, and The Andy Warhol Museum.
